I first became aware of what ambient instrumental music could do for you after listening to music from bands such as Tangerine Dream and Pink Floyd in the late 1970’s. When they got to that slow, strange but nice passage of music in the middle of all the everything else, you were suddenly transformed into a state of relaxation. Wow, and no I was not on drugs! If you, like me, love to listen to music on headphones, the experience was very much greater. It took you out of your body and mind and uplifted you into a higher state, after which you felt relaxed and refreshed. This was I guess my first meditation episode, and what an experience! The great thing about it was that you only needed the music, the time and a nice quiet place. This I had. From that time I discovered much more music around me and branched off from the mainstream stuff into this beautiful ambient world. What it also taught me to do was to listen to music as never before. Not just focusing on the overall sound, but to listen deeply between the notes, focus on the effects and - more importantly - the silence in between. Doing this also changed the way in which I composed my own music as well, making it not too complicated and listenable -very easy on the ear and mind as well. All my compositions are listened to by me on headphones, many times over. I want to be able to transmit across to other people the feeling I was first engaged in all those years ago and still am today. So I pay attention to the music I produce very carefully and make each passage as I intended it to be. The feedback I have had from everyone (worldwide) who has purchased my music has been nothing short of excellent. I have even had Vangelis applaud me, now that’s very special indeed. |
